  • PARS can assist with information about how the prison system works for family members wanting to contact someone in prison.

  • Visit applications must be generated by the person in prison. An application form is sent to the family member or friend they want to have visit them.

  • All children under the age of 18 must also complete a visit application and must be accompanied by an approved visitor.

  • Phone calls from prison are free for prisoner in the Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and Wellington regions.

  • Family members can email someone in prison using the eprisoner email address: Email and Mail | Department of Corrections

  • PARS does not have details on which prison people are in. The Corrections website has a form that can be filled out online to locate someone in prison.
